As a muralist and decorative painter for years I must have painted a million roses. Probably more than any other subject. When I became a daily painter I swore never paint another one. I was trying to get my daily painting going one day, without a shred of inspiration-or even an idea of what to do. I use a glaze technique with oil painting which I begin with an acrylic ground. The roses just came to be, it was not magic nor supernatural, I just did them out of a fit of desperation, it took far less time than I usually spend on an oil painting.
