blue calico pitcher

Back in the 70's I supplied a gift shop in Overland Park, Kansas with hand painted furniture pieces. I delivered an order but when I arrived the shop was closing for good. I took a set of blue calico china in lieu of the $3oo they owed me. I wanted the $300, I got the china. I still had it in its crate and got it out for a daily painting. If I had gotten the money it would have been gone in a week. As it is I can paint it and maybe I will eat off of it, after 30 years.

red white and flow blue 8 X 6 1/2

This was in a flea market and I felt like it would make a great painting. Flow blue was originally a mistake in firing that caused the design to flow, but it is now a collectable style of ceramic.

They say you should not compare apples to oranges but I think they look great together.

I grew up with Maxfield Parrish prints on our walls. My father admired him and even had "Daybreak" in his dorm room in college. this is nowhere an attempt to copy Parrish but the composition is based loosely on one of his landscapes.

the votive candle oil on wood panel 6x6

Votives fascinate me . They have a mysterious quality that I love and I paint lots of them
