I always thought that Adam and Eve gave apples a bad rap but I checked it out - all the pagans had similar stories about apples. The Vikings thought a goddess named Frigg overheard a king praying for his wife to have a child. Up until then she was barren. Frigg sent him a magic apple for his wife to eat. She ate it and had a 6 year pregnancy.
